Pillar 1 : We overuse spices - and not just on brioches!
Let us use cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, pepper in abundance….
In our broths, infusions or winter curries to warm us up… These spices have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties and improve digestion, enough to keep us going all winter long.
Our favorite: cinnamon! It regulates blood sugar and can be used in all kinds of dishes: sprinkle it on citrus fruits or make yourself a homemade chai blend (cinnamon, cardamom, pepper and cloves) to drink as an infusion or latte.
Pillar 2 : We decorate our home with cozy decor
The star of hygge decor: candles! We're loving the ones from @eska.paris. Their candles, made from pure, locally sourced beeswax, are beautiful and fill the house with fragrance.
Pillar 3 : We make our own plant-based milk
Super comforting cashew milk – mix it with chicory in the morning or with our “We want…the harvest collagen” supplement. Bonus: this milk leaves virtually no residue.
The recipe for 500 ml of fresh cashew milk:
40g of cashew nuts
500 ml of filtered water
1 pinch of salt
vanilla powder (1/4 tsp)
Soak the cashews in water for 24 hours in the refrigerator, then blend with 500ml of cold, filtered water. Strain (using a fine-mesh sieve, not cheesecloth), then add the salt and vanilla powder. It will keep for 3 days in the refrigerator.
Pillar 4 : We drink broth
The Detox Brother Our new vegetable and herb broth can be enjoyed on its own throughout the day. And for your dose of protein and collagen, opt for bone broth , our cult favorite!
We also adopt the fika ritual (the Swedish coffee break) with a twist from Atelier Nubio: we prefer it with little sugar (or even salt) such as wholemeal bread toast with almond puree, sprinkled with a stick of “we want…forest collagen” - accompanied by a broth or an infusion.
Pillar 5 : We practice sauna
Scandinavians are hooked – and so are we! Saunas relax you, promote sweating, and boost your immune system. Try them once a week if you can.
1 - The heat of the sauna stimulates the production of white blood cells, which strengthens the body's natural defenses against winter infections such as colds or the flu.
2 - Alternating between the heat of the sauna and the cold outside improves blood circulation. This helps oxygenate muscles and organs, reducing pain and tension.
3 - Intense sweating promotes the elimination of toxins accumulated in the body, which is particularly useful after a period of celebrations or rich meals.
4 - The sauna releases feel-good hormones, such as endorphins, which help to combat stress and improve mood, which is important in winter, a time conducive to fatigue and low morale.
5 - The relaxation induced by the sauna - particularly muscular - helps to sleep better, which is essential to maintain good energy in winter.
