FOODS THAT MAKE YOU GLOW

There are days when your complexion is fresh, even, luminous... and rivals the radiance of the sun's rays. Then there are those days when your skin looks dull, showing signs of a short night's sleep or excessive stress. Spoiler alert: true glow isn't about filters or miracle foundations; it's the glow that remains even without makeup, and it starts elsewhere: in your lifestyle, in what you eat, in what you drink, and especially: in balance. Spotlight on: these habits that truly give you a "healthy glow."

Glow: A question of balance

"Glow" is not the result of a magic wand or a winning genetic lottery combo; rather, it is the visible reflection of a set of internal mechanisms that work in harmony: energy, digestion, hydration, sleep quality, and stress level. When these parameters are (more or less) stable, the skin shows it. When they are unbalanced, the skin also reflects it.

In other words, a healthy glow is a signal that activates to tell us that "everything" is going well.

Skin, a mirror of internal functioning

We know that the skin is an organ in its own right, in permanent interaction with the rest of the body. It reacts to everything that happens inside... Thus, fatigue, stress, a more unbalanced diet, or disturbed sleep can quickly translate into:

  • a less even complexion

  • a loss of radiance

  • skin that appears duller or more tired

Conversely, when the body returns to a more stable rhythm, the skin is often one of the first visible indicators of this regained balance.

Energy, digestion, hydration: the three visible pillars

Skin radiance is also linked to daily elements. Energy balance affects regularity: fewer sudden peaks and drops often mean better overall vitality, which is also reflected on the face. Digestion, on the other hand, influences how the body assimilates nutrients essential for proper skin function. When it is more fluid, the entire system works more efficiently. Finally, hydration and micronutrients (vitamins, antioxidants, minerals) directly contribute to skin quality, its suppleness, and its ability to reflect light.

The role of stress and lifestyle

Stress levels and sleep quality also play a key role. A nervous system under pressure affects the entire body, and this is often visible on the face: more drawn features, a duller complexion, and a feeling of general fatigue.

Conversely, a calmer rhythm promotes better overall recovery, and therefore more radiant skin.

The gut, the second brain

We often hear that the gut is our "second brain." This is not a strictly scientific formula, but a simple way to describe a well-established reality: the digestive system is closely linked to the nervous system and plays a central role in the body's overall balance.

In concrete terms, this means that what happens in the gut is not limited to digestion. Without reducing the subject to a single cause, there is also a link between digestive balance and skin quality. Yes, because beyond digestion itself, the gut plays a key role via the microbiota. It participates in nutrient assimilation, but also in the regulation of certain inflammatory mechanisms. This is the particularly interesting point when talking about skin.

Indeed, low-grade inflammation (discreet but persistent) is often involved in certain skin manifestations: pimples, diffuse redness, uneven complexion, or more reactive skin. However, the balance of the microbiota and the quality of digestion can influence this overall inflammatory terrain. When this ecosystem is more stable and supported by diet, inflammatory mechanisms tend to be less stressed.

This is also why the link between the gut and "glow" is so often mentioned: skin radiance does not depend solely on what is applied to the surface, but also on how the body digests, assimilates, and regulates what it receives.

What if radiance started with what you eat?

Glow is not linked to a miracle ingredient, but to a diet that broadly supports the skin in its functions: cell renewal, hydration, protection against oxidative stress, and inflammation regulation.

Certain foods are particularly interesting in this context, as they provide key nutrients for these mechanisms.

Foods rich in carotenoids: the "healthy glow" radiance

Carrots make you nice, but they also give you a "healthy glow," just like sweet potatoes, squash, and apricots. Yes, because these foods are rich in carotenoids, plant pigments that participate in cell protection and sometimes give this effect of a brighter and more uniform complexion. They do not "color" the skin per se, but support its overall radiance by acting on oxidative stress.

Sources of vitamin C: the freshness of the complexion

Citrus fruits, kiwi, berries, raw bell pepper... but also more concentrated sources like acerola are known for their particularly high natural vitamin C content. It is this vitamin, involved in collagen synthesis, that contributes to cell protection against oxidative stress, two elements directly linked to skin radiance.

Certain plant ingredients go even further in this antioxidant protection, such as melon extracts rich in SOD (superoxide dismutase), an enzyme naturally present in cells and studied for its role in neutralizing free radicals. The purpose of these nutrients is not to "transform" the skin, but to support its natural defense and regeneration mechanisms.

Green plants: the balanced foundation

We know that green vegetables are good for health! Spinach, kale, broccoli, fresh herbs are all rich in micronutrients and chlorophyll; they support a global intake of essential vitamins and minerals. They thus participate in a stable nutritional foundation: the key to lasting glow.

Good fats: supple and radiant skin

Quality lipids, such as olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds, contribute to the structure of cell membranes and the suppleness of the skin. Without them, the skin can appear duller or drier, as it reflects light less effectively.

Or in the glass...

Well-hydrated skin reflects light better and naturally appears plumper. So, we quench our thirst with water, infusions, and water-rich foods (cucumber, watermelon, citrus fruits)... Hydration is not just about drinking more, but also about the overall quality of the diet.

Botanical gems to know

Plants for digestive and metabolic health

Fennel, peppermint, and artichoke (three key ingredients in our We want... a flat mermaid belly cure) are traditionally used to support digestion and the body's natural elimination functions. By promoting more comfortable digestion and smoother digestive functioning, these plants indirectly contribute to overall balance, a factor often linked to a feeling of lightness and vitality.

Plants for skin and balance

Burdock, nettle, turmeric, and echinacea are also included in some of our formulas for their role in supporting the body's natural functions. They are part of a holistic approach: supporting internal balances related to the skin, especially during periods when it is more reactive or unbalanced.

Glow rituals to adopt

Glow does not only depend on what you eat, but also on more targeted rituals, designed to support the skin during certain periods: lack of radiance, imbalances, uneven complexion, or visible fatigue.

  • The "We want... ultimate radiance" cure: our glow cure par excellence, it supports periods when the skin appears dull or tired, thanks to its formula rich in organic melon SOD and zinc, and featuring a patented complex combining collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin. The ultimate combo for radiant glow, all year round.

  • The "Skin Microbiota" cure takes a more global approach, linking digestive balance and skin comfort. Thanks to its probiotic-rich formula, it targets inflammation at its source to reduce redness and imperfections, and rebalance the microbiota.

  • The "We want pretty cheekbones" cure is the "hydration and anti-aging" solution. A supplement composed of wheat ceramides and organic borage oil to stimulate collagen density and deeply moisturize for soft, plump, and radiant skin.

  • The "We want a doll-like complexion" cure is a powdered supplement (ideal for those who don't like capsules) to replenish antioxidants, superfoods, and vitamin C, to reveal the skin's natural radiance and youthfulness. In addition, its formula also helps to reduce dark spots.

Note that these rituals do not replace a balanced diet, but extend it in a more targeted approach: that of supporting the skin in cycles, according to current needs.
